Following completion of the redevelopment project, Bearsden Golf Club invested in a new fleet of maintenance equipment supplied by Fairways GM to support the presentation standards of the transformed course.
Working with Fairways GM's Jonathan Rae and Stuart Cameron, Project Course Manager David McBride selected a fleet comprising ISEKI TG6507 and TH3420 tractors, a Wessex CRX-320 rotary mower, Jacobsen LF570 fairway mower, Jacobsen GP400 greens mower, Jacobsen Eclipse® 360 ELiTE® all-electric greens mower and Infinicut pedestrian mower.
A key consideration throughout the purchasing process was noise reduction, given the golf course's location alongside residential properties.
“Electric mowing was important because of our neighbouring residents,” said McBride. “Fairways gave us the opportunity to trial the Jacobsen Eclipse® 360 ELiTE® and we approved it almost instantly. The same applied to the Infinicut pedestrian mowers.
“Now, a few months down the line, we are complete converts to electric. The reduction in noise is remarkable and the quality of cut has been excellent. We would never go back.”
The Jacobsen LF570 was selected to maintain the club's fairways, while a Jacobsen GP400 fitted with seven-blade cutting units helps the team maintain closely mown greens surrounds, approaches and presentation areas created as part of the redevelopment.
“The redevelopment project raised standards across the entire golf course, so it was important that the machinery fleet evolved with it,” added McBride. “We've invested heavily in creating a course that will serve the club for many years to come and we wanted a machinery fleet — and a supplier partnership — capable of supporting that ambition.”
