General Data Protection Policy

Data Protection

  • User privacy and data protection are human rights
  • We have a duty of care to the people within our data
  • Data is a liability, it should only be collected and processed when necessary
  • We will never sell, rent or otherwise distribute or make public your personal information

This website collects and uses personal information for:

 i) Site visitation tracking

Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.

Although GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. GA also records your computer’s IP address which could be used to personally identify you but Google do not grant us access to this. We consider Google to be a third party data processor.

GA makes use of cookies, details of which can be found on Google’s developer guides. FYI our website uses the analytics.js implementation of GA.

Disabling cookies on your internet browser will stop GA from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website.

In addition to Google Analytics, this website may collect information (held in the public domain) attributed to the IP address of the computer or device that is being used to access it.

ii) Contact forms and email links

Should you choose to contact us using an email link from our contact page, none of the data that you supply will be stored by this website or passed to / be processed by any of the third party data processors defined in section 4. Instead the data will be collated into an email and sent to us over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). Our SMTP servers are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL) meaning that the email content is encrypted using SHA-2, 256-bit cryptography before being sent across the internet. The email content is then decrypted by our local computers and devices.

We use a third party to process personal data on our behalf - Google (privacy policy)

We will report any unlawful data breach of this website’s database or the database(s) of any of our third party data processors to any and all relevant persons and authorities within 72 hours of the breach if it is apparent that personal data stored in an identifiable manner has been stolen.

The data controller of this website is David Rae of Fairways GM Ltd.

This privacy policy may change from time to time in line with legislation or industry developments. We will not explicitly inform our clients or website users of these changes. Instead, we recommend that you check this page occasionally for any policy changes.

Privacy Policy

Fairways GM ("Fairways" or "we") recognises the importance of protecting the privacy of all information provided by users of our website. The following policy guidelines outline our fundamental respect for our users' right to privacy.

Information We Collect
Fairways collects information about users during their registration for some areas of our website and during participation in certain activities on our website. Our server automatically collects some information about site users, including Internet protocol (IP) addresses. By registering for our Newsletter, you will be asked to provide certain voluntary information.

As you browse the site, our server collects information about your visit, not about you personally. Via Web server logs and browser cookie files, we monitor statistics such as:

    - How many people visit our site
    - Which pages people visit on our site
    - Which domains our visitors come from (e.g., "" or "")
    - Which browsers people use to visit our site

While we gather this information, none of it is associated with you as an individual. We use these statistics to improve our Web site, to monitor its performance and to make it easier for you and other visitors to use.

Use of Information
Fairways uses all reasonable precautions to keep the personal information disclosed to us secure and to disclose this information only to responsible third parties, and then only after Fairways receives permission from the user. This permission may be sought online.

Fairways uses IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our Web site. Using e-mail addresses provided at registration, where appropriate, Fairways will respond with information pertaining to the original request.

Our site does not use "cookies" at this time for obtaining user preferences or other information, with the exception of resolving links to other sites. If we start to use "cookies" for any other purpose, we will revise this policy or otherwise let users know of that change.

Fairways is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of Web sites to which we may provide links. Those links are provided as a service to users and rely on servers maintained by other businesses and organisations. Fairways cannot provide any warranty about the accuracy or source of the information contained on any of those servers or the content of any file the user might download from those sites.

If you have any questions about this privacy statement, the practices of this site or your dealings with Fairways, you can reach us via our contacts page.
