The Fairways Group comprises diverse yet complimentary companies operating in a variety of sports amenity markets.
Fairways Sportsgrounds Ltd has roots stretching back to 1919, when John R Stutt established his landscape and sportsground construction business in Barrhead, near Glasgow. Stutt worked with the acclaimed James Braid on numerous golf course construction projects, including Carnoustie, Royal Dornoch and Dalmahoy.
Alistair Rae joined John R Stutt Ltd as Contracts Manager in 1968 and took over as manager in 1969. Following a management buy-out in 1981, the business was re-branded as Sportsgrounds Ltd and later became Fairways Sportsgrounds Ltd, and continued to build its reputation as one of the UK's leading designers and constructors of outdoor sports facilities including golf courses, tennis courts, playing fields and bowling greens.
In the late 1980s, the Rae family launched Wiedenmann (UK) Ltd as the UK and Ireland importer for the highly regarded range of Wiedenmann machinery. Through an expanding network of distributors, the business became well known and respected across the UK machinery industry, leading to an introduction to Ransomes Jacobsen and the opportunity to establish a Scottish dealership for their brands.
The dealership was established in 2004 as Fairways (GM) Ltd and has quickly grown into a business known for excellence in its delivery of product and service. Fairways GM plays a key role within the Fairways Group portfolio and the company continues to go from strength to strength.
The Fairways Group remains a family business, rooted in principles of integrity, quality, innovation and an overriding commitment to customer service.
Our primary objective is to ensure high standards across all of our group activities.
